Abstract

This chapter introduces the reader to the topic of workplace spirituality in contemporary South Africa. It provides insights into Western and African concepts of (workplace) spirituality and thereby refers to the very specific sociocultural contexts within South Africa, while referring to historic and present influences. Finally, spirituality is described within the context of mental health, mindfulness, and well-being research. Conclusions are drawn and implications for future theory and practice are discussed.
