Abstract

The malware problem is one that has been around for many years and for which there is still no solution. Statistics indicate that anti-malware products, although becoming more advanced, are not adequately addressing the problem of malware. The prior is evident due to the increase in the number of infection rates and new malware samples being discovered daily. Microsoft recently released its latest Operating System called Windows 8. In this paper we test Windows 8 in order to identify any security vulnerabilities that might exist that could be exploited by malware. We then propose solutions for the identified vulnerabilities.
