Abstract
Africa’s socio-economic and political developments are yearning for reforms in the face of threats to its survival in a competitive international order. These reforms seek to amend the setbacks inhibiting its march into a liberated future. The existential reality of Africa’s stagnation, when put side-by-side the landmark advances of other global actors, is clear:- Thus, the urgency to reset Africa’s development priorities in the spheres of international geopolitics, gender inclusion, insecurities, corruption, poverty, and hunger, among others. To achieve the vision of a liberated future, contemporary Africa should be driven by the Ubuntu ideal:- an ideal that depicts a thought underpinned on humanism, community-based structures and a socialist episteme, hence its capacity for addressing African challenges. To weave this perspective, the study adopts a qualitative methodology that embarks on a historical voyage:- one that showcases a glorious African antiquity that is at variance with a contemporary Africa craving for rebirth. The study recommends that policies on anti-corruption, and women and children’s inclusion in all peacebuilding agendas be urgently prioritized. Also, innovations in agriculture and IT-tech, along with economic revitalisation that targets poverty reduction, will go a long way in achieving the ‘Africa we Want’.
