Abstract

In this paper, free convection heat transfer in the presence of radiation and transverse magnetic field is studied for an incompressible viscous electrically conducting fluid past an infinite vertical wall invoking the slip boundary condition. The solutions to the governing equations are derived by making linear to the coupled differential equations and by seeking asymptotic series expansions about a small parameter ε (ε «1). The linear differential equations are then integrated numerically for the parameters of the problem. Velocity and temperature profiles are shown graphically together with the rate of heat transfer. The effects of the slip velocity and the radiation parameter on these profiles are discussed.
