Abstract

This chapter analyzes transmission network expansion planning (TNEP), aimed at determining the optimal approach for adequate selection of transmission lines to be constructed to meet the growing energy demand, as well as facilitating power transfer from far-away locations to consumers. With this in mind, TNEP is described on the basis of planning strategies and each of the planning strategies is modeled with two modeling methods.
