Abstract

Findings from the literature has identified various barriers preventing most higher education institutions from implementing TQM in their respective institutions, this could be attributed to the fact that most TQM associated concepts may not have a substantial continuous impact on the majority of concepts and customs of educational quality. However, this study seeks to identify and discuss various fundamentals of TQM in HEIs, identify various accomplishments of TQM in HEIs. The study contributes to the body of knowledge by analyzing the key TQM fundamentals adopted by various researchers. It was also seen that the most treasured and adopted TQM fundamentals in the HEIs are the ones that concerns the human aspect of the institutions, in other words, the major stakeholders; students, both academic and non-academic staff members and the top management.
