The Where of Mineral Names: Karibibite, Karibib District, Namibia

Abstract

Karibibite, Fe3 3+(As3+O2)4(As2 3+O5)(OH), was described from a pegmatite in the Karibib district of Namibia by von Knorring, Sahama, and Rehtijärvi (1973). Their description of the type material, housed at the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom and the Department of Geology at the University of Helsinki in Finland, has been summarized by Anthony et al. (1997).
