Abstract
The chiral synthesis of the fungal metabolite fi-cyclopiazonic acid is described. The key step involves the use of the tricarbonylchromium complex of an N-protected L-tryptophan methyl ester as a substrate for the addition/oxidation method of substitution of its indole ring system.
