Abstract
The digital era has compelled many organisations in South Africa to incorporate digital transformation into their businesses. Innovative technologies are immanent in all business operations to improve customer value and successful organisational functioning, employee agility, and the employability of new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) talent. Therefore, it is significant for all small and medium enterprises to integrate innovative technologies into their business operations to improve the performance of new operating models and to provide a competitive edge and customer satisfaction. Digitisation can contribute to the optimisation of businesses, improve business progress operations using digital transformation adoption into organisations, and facilitate employee agility that promotes the employment of more digital talent. The study objective examined the contribution of digital technologies to employee agility and business development. This study used a quantitative method with structured closed-ended and open-ended questions to draft a questionnaire using Google Forms for the data collection process. The Technology-Organisation-Environment (TOE) framework was used to guide the study. The study results show that advanced digital technologies are an important aspect of organisational development that may drive employee agility through ICT skills training and facilitate the employability of skilled talents. This study suggests that ICT policymakers support the implementation of digital technologies for better business operations, optimum customer services, as well as organisational and economic benefits.
