Abstract

The structure of the repeating unit of the O-specific polysaccharide from the lipopolysaccharide of the enterobacterium Raoultella terrigena was determined by means of chemical and spectroscopical methods and was found to be a linear tetrasaccharide containing a cyclic acetal of pyruvic acid (Pyr) as depicted below.{A figure is presented}.
