The investigation of the characteristics of a polyurethane foam as a sustainable thermal insulation material used for residential roofing systems for energy conservation: A review

Research output: Contribution to journalConference articlepeer-review

Abstract

Residential buildings help to provide some facilitation for the occupants against solar radiation and adverse weather conditions that lead to high energy usage at commercial and private buildings. Research into potential thermally insulating substances that can help resist or soak the impact of solar radiation that can harm lives in our community has become more significant as the impact of climate change on our environment grows. This research proposes a sustainable solution by reviewing the thermal performance of polyurethane (PU) foam as an insulation material embedded in the aluminium roofing system for sustainable human comfort. The engineering attributes of polyurethane and its application in engineering are also discussed. In conclusion, from the study of polyurethane embedded materials for roofing sheets, a structural application has shown excellent performance, mainly as an insulation material that reduces environmental temperature and energy consumption, achieving sustainable comfort for occupants in the community. This study highly recommends using Polyurethane aluminium roof sheets in all building industries for excellent thermal comfort and energy consumption management.
