Abstract

Recent research and industrial trends have shifted towards lighter and stronger materials. Owing to the unique combination of properties possessed by NiAl, researchers and engineers have focused on this intermetallic for a few decades now. NiAl is an intermetallic that has been identified as suitable high temperature materials because of its integrity at high temperatures. These properties make it attractive in the automotive and aerospace industries especially for high temperature applications. This paper aims to review the past work that has been done on improving the mechanical properties of this intermetallic using mechanical alloying and alloying with various other elements.
