Abstract

Although the vortex shedding phenomenon has been known to mankind for centuries, it is only during the past decade that commercial vortex flowmeters have come of age. The original vortex meter produced by Kent Instruments Ltd., U.K., proved to be costly to manufacture. Now, Kent Flow Products at Stonehouse intend to launch a new version with improved performance and lower costs. The paper presented reviews the existing theories and relevant experimental works and describes the ideas leading to the development of this new version. (A)
