Abstract

Reactions of [NiCI(PPh3)(dtc)] (dtc = diethyldithiocarbamate, S2CNEt2) with mono- and di-thiols in the presence of Et3N afford the dimers [Ni(μ-SR)(dtc)]2 (R = C6H5, C6H4Me-p, C2H5 and CMe3) and the monomers [Ni(HS2R’)(dtc)] (R’ = C6H3Me-p or (CH2)X where x = 2, 3 and 4) generally in high yields. The compounds have been characterized by a combination of 1H NMR, IR and UV-vis spectroscopy and by elemental analysis. The NMR peaks corresponding to the protons of the thiolate and diethyldithiocarbamate ligands have been assigned. Infrared.
