Abstract

Metastable MgOxNy compound was synthesized through annealing under the mixture of nitrogen-oxygen gases. The nanocrystalline particles of different morphology were formed. Powders were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, Raman spectroscopy. A complete synthesis of MgOxNy was obtained upon annealing at 650 °C with low BET surface area when compared to Mg3N2 powder.
