Abstract
We have studied the effect of Ni incorporation into CeSb by the measurements of magnetic susceptibility and electrical resistivity for polycrystalline samples of CeSbNix (0≤x≤0.15). It is found that the Neel temperature TN drops from 16 K for x = 0 to 9 K for x = 0.05 and gradually increases with x for x>0.05. The drastic depression of TN is ascribed to the filling of the 5p hole band with Ni 3d electrons, resulting in the collapse of p-f mixing. Below TN, the electrical resistivity decreases for x≤0.05, whereas it increases for x≥0.08. The rise in the resistivity below TN indicates the formation of a superzone gap in a simple antiferromagnetic phase for x≥0.08.
