Abstract

The repair of cracked concrete structures is important in order to guarantee the safety of communities, residences and users of these structures. Considerable experimental investigations have been reported on the performance of the beams repaired with adhesively bonded steel plates; however there is lack of experimental investigation that has been done regarding the steel contribution ratio that must be provided to encourage yielding of externally bonded steel plates. This paper aims to investigate the effect of the steel contribution ratio on the flexural behaviour of normal under-reinforced concrete beams repaired with steel plates. In order to accomplish this aim, experimental results from previous studies were analysed. The analysis covers important aspects of beams, in flexure, such as mid-span deflections, maximum load capacities, and failure modes.
