Abstract
A necessary and sufficient condition for the stability of a polynomial matrix is presented, in terms of the eigenvalues of a composite matrix consisting of its coefficient matrices, and is illustrated by an example. This condition is suitable for numerical computations in control system analysis and computer-aided design.
