Abstract
Inelastic neutron scattering, neutron diffraction and magnetic measurements have been carried out on the compound CePdSb. Analysis of the crystal field excitation spectrum has yielded the crystal field parameters. Quasi-elastic neutron scattering is consistent with strong exchange coupling. Neutron diffraction experiments on a single crystal confirm the ferromagnetic structure below Tc = 17 K, and show that the cerium moment is 1.2μB, lying in the basal plane. Low field magnetic measurements on small crystal show the susceptibility to be highly anisotropic, as expected for the crystal field ground state.
