Abstract
This chapter presents a detailed study for restructuring of the existing transmission network in western parts of Rajasthan, India, by creating new extra high-voltage grid substations (GSS) to mitigate the renewable energy (RE) evacuation constraints. The optimal restructuring is achieved by considering the different alternative schemes and analysing the loading status of the transmission elements. Load flow studies and short circuit studies are performed to select the most feasible schemes out of the different available alternative options. Finally, an optimal set of GSS and associated transmission lines have been suggested to be included in the existing transmission network to mitigate the RE evacuation constraints. The final suggested network in addition to the existing network would be sufficient to evacuate the RE power from the solar parks and wind farms in the western parts of Rajasthan to the load centre.
