Research on post-harvest physiology

Research output: Contribution to journalShort surveypeer-review

Abstract

In 1978 the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation passed a resolution that all countries should focus a certain percentage of research effort on post-harvest physiology. The objective is to help overcome food shortages in Third World countries by achieving a longer shelf life for fresh produce. The Botany Department at Rand Afrikaans University is currently investigating fruit and cut flowers in this regard.
