Abstract

This paper proposes hydrocarbon natural refrigerants as a desirable, environmentally friendly alternative refrigerant and a solution to the problems of ozone depletion and global warming. It also makes a compelling case for using hydrocarbon refrigerants instead of halocarbon refrigerants in refrigeration and air conditioning systems. The potential of hydrocarbon refrigerants, their material compatibility, and safety precautions in refrigeration and air conditioning systems are all addressed in this paper. The paper also discusses previous research on the use of hydrocarbon refrigerants as a replacement for halocarbon refrigerants in refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
