Renaissance in Communal Development through Water Resource Security: Focus on Inyama River in Akwuke, Nigeria

Abstract

Nations both sovereign and dependent, could go to war to protect their marine, water, and ocean ways due to their multiple strategic advantages and implications for international, national, and communal developments. Water usage and the benefits of rivers in societal development cannot be neglected. This study focuses on the Inyama River among the Akwuke people of Enugu State. The research drew on primary data from the field and secondary accounts in scholarly publications to develop its content. The Inyama River significantly contributes to the economic development of the Akwuke community and Enugu State's revenue. Therefore, it recommends multi-dimensional ways to preserve and develop the river for greater income for the community.
