Abstract
This paper examines tourism as a game changer in the post-pandemic potential of the Eastern Cape Province. The Eastern Cape‘s tourism industry can be an economic game changer. This industry seems to be highly developed, and there is a room for growth in this area. A qualitative approach, employing a phenomenological design with semi-structured interviews, was used to collect data from the twenty (20) participants from the tourism sector of the Eastern Cape Province. The data from participants was analysed using content analysis and data reduction. Tourism is a job creator, a substantial source of foreign currency exchange for the country, and a beneficial economic activity for both local and host communities. Other industries such as horticulture, handicrafts, agriculture, construction, and even poultry have benefitted from tourism. The study‘s findings suggest that the tourism industry in the Eastern Cape has significant potential for creating jobs and earning a great deal of foreign currency, as well as helping the country‘s overall economic and social growth. The study found that there is still much more research to be done.
