Abstract
In this chapter, we turn to the subject of joy in a positive collaborative autoethnography (PosCAE) undertaken by Ros Ben-Moshe and Joe Hoare. Ros, an Adjunct lecturer at La Trobe University, Australia, has recovered from bowel cancer. Joe, a UK-based laughter professional, has recovered from multiple suicide attempts. Here, they use PosCAE to reflect on, and debate, the art and practice of joy. While they narrate diverse life experiences, and observations, they both recount how, by actively harnessing joy, they have been able to heal, regenerate and move forward from difficult experiences. Their appreciation of joy has deep-ened over the years. They conclude that joy is a choice, a commitment and a powerful force for positivity, resilience and connection. An intro-duction from Freda and Claude, with separate voices as in the spirit of AE, precedes this PosCAE.
