Abstract

MXenes have received a great focus in recent decades, as more research groups have begun to investigate this material. While synthesis and application have garnered a main focus, processing and characterization are frequently overlooked. Almost 30 new MXene compositions have been reported, with approximately eight different synthesis routes. Because of the diversity of MXene structures, compositions, and applications, multiple advanced characterization techniques are frequently required. This chapter thoroughly reviews various techniques, such as X-ray powder diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and so on, to determine whether the precursor is suitable for MXene nanocomposite synthesis, confirm successful synthesis, and finally determine its composition, structure, and properties. MXene processing techniques and applications are also discussed.
