Abstract

This chapter explores population growth in cities and provides estimates on the growth of urbanization worldwide. Equations for growth estimates are given, with the carrying capacity of cities included where data are available. Two models are compared: the Malthusian model, which does not account for carrying capacity, and the Verhulst model, which takes into account the limits of growth of cities.
