Abstract
Phenolics are secondary metabolites that have been reported for their potent antioxidant properties. Their chemical structure, which consist of an aromatic ring and hydroxyl groups with or without other functional groups, plays an influential role in this regard. These antioxidant properties have been explored as therapeutics for the management of several ailments. This chapter discusses the antioxidant and therapeutic roles of phenolics in the management and treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes and their complications.
