Abstract
This chapter examines the organ transplantation trade and its implications for youth unemployment in Africa. Organ transplantation is a worldwide practice that is conducted in almost 100 countries. In addition to nefarious activities, it has also brought about an increase in the rate of survival of patients with renal diseases since it was discovered. Accordingly, this chapter discusses organ trafficking in Africa under the following three subject matters: (1) organ transplantation and the organ trade, (2) the nexus between youth unemployment and organ trafficking in Africa, and (3) the implications of organ trafficking in Africa and the way forward.
