abstract = "In this paper, identification of optimal model parameters of a proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer has been carried out using Bald Eagle Search (BES) optimization techniques. Mathematical model of an electrolyzer is considered to be a non-linear, multi variable and complex optimization problem. Metaheuristic optimization algorithm has ability to solve these types of complex problem. The main aim of this study is to firstly find the optimum values of six unknown model parameters of a PEM electrolyzer using BES technique. A voltage based objective function expressed as sum of squared error between experimental and estimated values has been used to identify the unknown parameters. Also, polarization curve ( J-V curve) has been plotted to check the closeness between the measured and experimental values. Furthermore, the results obtained by BES are compared with other metaheuristic optimization algorithms for proving its superiority. It has been found that Bald Eagle Search optimization algorithm with minimum sum of squared error 1.011E-03 is most effective and suitable metaheuristic algorithm for the optimal parameter identification of PEM electrolyzer. Moreover, statistical analysis and box plot study has also been carried out to validate the accuracy and reliability of algorithm as compared to other metaheuristic algorithms. Also, identified parameters are used for the study of impact of temperature and pressure on J-V curve.",
