Abstract

Prevalence and intensity of Lernaea cyprinacea L. (Crustacea: Copepoda: Cyclopoida) in Gambusia affinis (Baird and Girard, 1853) from Kundu Estuary (Antalya-Turkey) during June and October 2011 is reported. Non infected fish were longer and heavier than their infected counterparts in each age class. A negative correlation exists between the growth of the fish and intensity of parasite infection. This is the first parasitological record of L. cyprinacea on the mosquito fish (G. affinis) in Turkey.
