Novel Software Solution for Engineering Education

Abstract

The difficulty associated with understanding mathematical content in engineering research limits the number of postgraduate students in this field. The emergence of multi-disciplinary research also requires researchers to study non-engineering research. This makes it necessary to learn about solutions in other areas suitable for solving engineering challenges. This paper proposes a solution to improve the understanding of mathematical content in engineering research. It proposes the engineering research abstract (ERA) and the multi-disciplinary research abstract (MERA) in three formats i.e., audio, text, and video. The ERA simplifies the understanding of the mathematical concept used in engineering research. The MERA enables the understanding of nonengineering research with the goal of identifying potential solutions that address identified engineering challenges. Analysis of results from engineering students show the appeal of simplified mathematical content in engineering research.
