Abstract

The compounds Sc1 - x Ux Pd3 and URu2 - x Rex Si2 exhibit non-Fermi liquid behavior in the vicinity of zero-temperature magnetic phase transitions accessed by chemical substitution. Notably, the quantum phase transitions in these pseudobinary systems are associated with spin glass and ferromagnetic ordering, respectively. Recent studies have uncovered new details of the unconventional physical phenomena occurring in these materials.
