Abstract

In modern industrial and social systems, end-users, sensors, actuators, controllers, and filters are often connected via Internet or other communication networks. Systems with such structures are called networked control systems, and they have advantages such as low cost and easy installation [1]. However, the sharing of the network resource also brings in many complexities such as high order and/or dimensional systems, network induced delay, packet dropouts and medium access constraint. In this tutorial, a few of our recent works on complex networked systems with delay will be reviewed, covering effective computation of all stabilizing gain and delay regions for multivariable systems, H-infinity filtering for networked systems with multiple time-varying transmissions and random packet dropouts, and a brand new control framework with total uncertainty estimation and compensation.
