Abstract
Plant cell wall components such as cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, and pectin are biosynthesized through the action of essential enzymes called cytochrome P450 monooxygenases. This study provides an overview of their role in the synthesis of cell walls, examines the implications of the findings, and looks toward the future. The study emphasizes how important plant cell walls are to both plant biology and industry. Understanding this background information is crucial to understanding the function of cytochrome P450 enzymes. The study assesses the hierarchy, functions, and mode of action of cytochrome P450 monooxygenases, therefore bringing out the diverse roles they have played in making complex cell wall components. Enzymatic pathways and regulatory mechanisms are extensively explained in the biosynthesis of cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, and pectin. In addition to this, the study considers the possible biotechnological use of cytochrome P450 enzymes in manipulating plant cell wall structure, which may be very beneficial for improving crops and bio-based products. The specificity of the receptors, the regulatory networks, and the natural diversity of cytochrome P450 enzymes are further discussed in this study along with the challenges and also opportunities for further research. Hence, one may conclude that this study gives a very clarification of the role of cytochrome P450 monooxygenases in plant cell wall synthesis and also highlights their relevance to the advancement of agriculture, biotechnology, and materials science.
