Modelling and Simulation of Interline Power Flow Controller for Improved Transmission System Security

Abstract

This study shows the performance of Interline Power Flow Controller (IPFC) in improving the steady state power flow of transmission system network. A 30-bus transmission line system is modelled with MATLAB/Simulink software. Two Scenarios were simulated to evaluate the performance of IPFC. In Scenario 1, the 30-bus network system is modelled and simulated without IPFC whilst in Scenario 2, the system is modelled with IPFC. The simulated results of the two cases were compared to determine the performance of IPFC in improving the voltage stability and power profile of the system after the occurrence of fault. The results review that IPFC stabilized the system parameters.
