Minerals of Berg Aukas, Otavi Mountainland, Namibia

Although much of the Otavi Mountainland ore reserves has been mined out, there is still potential interest in prospecting for vanadium and zinc mineralization in the region. There is currently (2019) some renewed reassessment underway in this regard. How much ore remains is uncertain, particularly because most of the supergene mineralization peters out with depth, and the old underground workings at the larger mines such as Berg Aukas and Abenab would appear to have exhausted most of the orebodies.
