Abstract
Power system development has become a significant concern as space agencies and commercial fir ms aim to construct permanent human settlements beyond earth and explore space with ambitious ambitions. Microgrids (MGs) have become a potential solution to meet the specific power requirements of space applications due to their flexibility, modularity, and ability to incorporate a variety of energy sources. In this review study, the state-of-the-art and next directions of microgrid systems for space applications are examined. We start by examining the idea of space MGs, their classification, control, and power management techniques, and their safeguards. A brief overview of hybrid power renewable energy sources (HPRESs) for space applications is also presented in this work. This includes a thorough examination of the modeling, composition, control, and simulation studies of HPRESs for use in space applications. Additionally, a number of potential developments and difficulties in implementing space MGs are emphasized and described. Lastly, a summary of the key elements of the space MGs' future trends is provided. Researchers, scientists, and policymakers would benefit from this study's thorough and organized understanding of space metal grains.
