Abstract
This chapter discussed the various issues related to the protection of microgrid clusters. A detailed overview of different protection approaches such as overcurrent, differential, hybrid and adaptive protection. Moreover, the requirements, advantages and disadvantages of the different techniques were also discussed. This chapter discussed the assumptions for the protection studies and the importance of islanding protection schemes in MGC. At last, the authors discussed the importance of communication infrastructure for the effective and fast protection of the MGC system.
