Abstract
This article reports on the melt-state viscoelastic properties of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS)- containing linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) composites. LLDPE nanocomposites with three different weight percentages of POSS were prepared via melt-mixing at 150 °C. The melt-state rheological behaviour of pure LLDPE and various nanocomposite samples were studied by stress/strain control rheometry in the linear viscoelastic region and the results show that POSS particles play the role of a lubricant by decreasing the viscoelastic properties of LLDPE. The mechanical properties exhibited a decrease with increasing POSS content in the LLDPE matrix.
