Abstract

Long Term Load Forecasting aims to predict the system load over an interval of one year to ten years. The increase in the penetration of renewables in power system demands expansion of transmission structure as well as more flexible generation and better cycling of existing generation. Long term load forecasting plays a crucial role in system resource planning, Staff hiring and expansion of transmission as well as generation. With the advancement in computational techniques, numerous mathematical models for Load Forecasting have been built by researchers. Most of them concentrates on short term load forecasting. This paper implements one univariate and two multivariate simple linear models for long term load forecasting. Accuracy of these models can be improve further by adding various parameters that affecting Load demand like temperature, humidity type of day and growth rate.
