Maintenance Practice in a Sand Casting Foundry

The chapter gives an in-depth review of challenges as well as strengths and weaknesses that characterize maintenance practices in a sand casting manufacturing company. The study was done for a ferrous foundry which was producing mainly grey and white iron. A number of suggestions put across were on appropriate practices which could be taken on board and areas of possible improvement in that specific plant. The generated recommendations could find wide application in similar foundries to enhance plant operations through high maintenance efficiency as a way to save finite input resources and improve operational bottom line.
