Abstract
Magnetoresistivity (MR) isotherm measurements of CeCu5 In0.6 Al0.4 and CeCu5 In0.6 Ga0.4 alloys down to low temperatures in fields up to 8 T are presented. A negative MR and single-ion Kondo-like behavior is observed at all temperatures. The results are analyzed on the basis of calculations by Andrei and Schlottmann for the Bethe-ansatz solution in the context of the Coqblin-Schrieffer model. The analyses yield Kondo temperatures of TK = 10 ± 2 K and 20 ± 2 K and effective moments for the Kondo ion of μK = 0.062 ± 0.006 μB and 0.107 ± 0.008 μB, respectively, for the CeCu5 In0.6 Al0.4 and CeCu5 In0.6 Ga0.4 alloys. The scaling of the data with the Bethe-ansatz formulation of the single-ion MR is presented.
