Abstract
In this article, we discuss the role of leadership in school improvement. We begin by providing an overview of this issue. Next, we describe alternative frameworks for conceptualizing the role of leaders in school improvement and summarize empirical research in this domain. We conclude by identifying issues that remain to be resolved in delineating how leadership influences school improvement.
