Abstract

Ab initio plane-wave pseudopotential local-density theory is used to model sites of In in diamond. The most stable site involves In at an off-center substitutional position in between two adjacent C vacancies. This may be the most stable fundamental defect formed following implantation. Initial formation of this center is associated with two C interstitials.
