Abstract
This paper describes how laser anemometry is particularly suited to the measurement of flows in and around turbomachinery. The operation and use of both laser Doppler and laser transit anemometry are discussed. Finally, some measurements taken at Cranfield Institute of Technology using laser anemometers are presented.
