Abstract

Knowledge based approaches are becoming widespread in process control engineering as they provide a more comprehensive approach to industrial control than those based entirely on algorithmic methods. In this paper, the development of a knowledge based approach to provide an estimation procedure for the deadtime in industrial processes. This development forms a module within a larger project for the development of an intelligent knowledge based process controller. Results of real time experiments are also included and discussed in this paper.
