Abstract
Microgrid technology is critical to the smart grid's implementation. To enable the wider use of microgrids, research and development are being conducted to improve the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs), improve control algorithms, and investigate new power market models and policy frameworks. Microgrid technology is a constantly expanding subject. Therefore, the types, definitions, components, architectures, control systems and advantages of microgrid technology are covered in detail in this chapter.
