Abstract

In this chapter, computational technique was defined and explained with respect to the practical application as required for environmental modeling. The technical terms, as well as the basic computer terminologies were explained. The types of computational techniques were highlighted to provide wide range of choices for professionals and beginners. The need for the use of closed and open access scientific packages was highlighted. The rules guiding the use of open source libraries in environmental modeling were highlighted.
