Abstract
Interpenetrating polymeric networks (IPNs) represent a distinct category of polymer blends that possess unique structural characteristics. They are formed when two or more cross-linked polymer networks interweave, with one network being created in the presence of the other. The interface, which refers to the region where different polymer components come into contact, plays a pivotal role in determining the overall properties of IPNs. Within this context, the chapter discusses how the interphase influences the mechanical, thermal, and viscoelastic behavior, as well as the morphology of IPNs. Furthermore, it provides insight into various characterization techniques employed to study the interphase and outlines significant applications of IPNs.
